Can an ear infection cause neck pain?

My left ear is quite sore from an infection, and today I woke up with a very stiff and painful neck on that side. My wife says it's probably just sleeping in a wrong position. But can an ear infection actually cause neck pain?

Yes, an ear infection can cause swollen lymph nodes in the neck, leading to soreness. However, a stiff neck with an ear infection can sometimes be a sign of a more serious spreading infection, so it is highly critical to get it evaluated by a doctor immediately.

It definitely can because of the lymphatic system reacting to the infection. I usually track my symptoms on my health app, but since neck pain can sometimes be tricky, getting a quick consultation with an ENT is the smartest move.

I panicked so much when my neck got stiff during an earache, thinking it was some major neurological issue. Turns out it was just muscle tension and swollen glands from the infection. Once the ear drops worked, the neck pain vanished!

Infections can sometimes take longer to heal when managing blood sugar, and the resulting neck pain can be quite uncomfortable. Please don't try to self-manage this; it's much safer to have a doctor check the ear and prescribe the right treatment.

Bro, yes! I had this bad earache during exams and my neck was hurting so much I couldn't even look down at my desk. Let a doctor check it out so you don't suffer through it like I did.

Yes, it can. Sitting at a desk all day with neck pain and an earache is impossible anyway. Save your time and skip the home remedies—just get a direct appointment with an ENT specialist to get proper relief.

I just went through this last month. My ear was totally blocked and my neck felt incredibly stiff and sore on that side. The doctor confirmed it was due to swollen lymph nodes fighting the ear infection, and it cleared up with antibiotics.
