Can an ear infection cause high fever?

My 3-year-old daughter has an ear infection, and her fever shot up to 103 degrees F last night. We gave her medicine, but I'm still worried. Is it common for ear infections, especially in kids, to cause such a high fever?

Yes, a severe ear infection can definitely cause a high fever as the body fights off the bacteria. Because infections can sometimes affect other things, it is always best to consult an ENT doctor and get a proper checkup.

If there is a high fever, it means the infection is quite strong and won't go away with home remedies. Wipe the body with a damp cloth to bring the temperature down and go straight to a local clinic to get antibiotic drops prescribed.

Yes, it can. When my nephew had a high fever from an ear infection, we went to a multi-specialty hospital and the doctor clearly explained that middle ear fluid was infected. Make sure you ask your ENT doctor about the exact cause and complete the full course of medicine.

Actually, yes yaar. A severe ear infection can push the fever really high, especially in kids. Don't wait for it to clear up on its own, just take them to a doctor quickly.

I've dealt with chronic ear infections for years. A high fever is a clear sign that the infection has taken hold, often behind the eardrum. Keep a thermometer handy, note down the temperatures, and see a specialist immediately to prevent any damage to the eardrum.

Don't listen to people telling you to put oil or warm liquids in the ear when there is a high fever. That can be very dangerous if the eardrum is ruptured. Go verify the infection with a qualified ENT doctor immediately.

Oh yes, our bodies heat up when fighting those nasty ear bugs! Keep cool, drink plenty of water, and let a doctor help you fix this soon. 🩺

A high fever usually means you need proper consultation. To save on costs, you can visit a government hospital or a local general practitioner first; they can easily diagnose an ear infection with an otoscope without expensive tests.

While dealing with a high fever, stick to light, easily digestible vegetarian meals like khichdi and warm soups. Avoid heavy dairy which can sometimes increase mucus, but make sure to consult a doctor for proper ear drops.

When there is high fever, the body's energy is entirely focused on healing. Avoid any strenuous exercises or heavy pranayama. Rest completely and allow a medical practitioner to treat the ear infection safely.

Do not worry, the body is simply doing its work to clear the illness. Keep a calm mind, take proper rest, and seek timely medical care to help ease the fever and heal the ear.

Having PCOS makes my body react strongly to inflammation, and high fevers are always exhausting. If you have an ear infection causing a high fever, please be gentle with yourself and get a doctor to check it out properly.

I got so scared when my son's fever touched 103 during an ear infection, I thought it was something major. The pediatrician assured us it is a normal immune response to ear infections. Once the antibiotics started, the fever came down beautifully.

With a high fever, you cannot focus on work anyway. A severe ear infection needs immediate medical attention. Get a quick doctor appointment, start the treatment, and take a couple of days off to rest.
