Can amoxicillin cause abdominal pain?

I'm currently on a course of amoxicillin for a throat infection. I've been experiencing some mild abdominal pain since I started taking it. Is this a common side effect?

Yes, amoxicillin can definitely upset the stomach. Since I also manage hypertension, I always ensure my doctors know all my meds before prescribing antibiotics. Make sure you are taking it after a proper meal and monitor your body carefully during your regular health checks.

Man, I've been up since 3 AM with my kid, and reading this just reminds me of my own stomach aches on amoxicillin. It literally feels like a tiny washing machine is spinning inside your gut. Take it with food, seriously, otherwise you will be sleep-deprived like me, running to the washroom.

I was actually reading about this online because my cousin got prescribed this for a tooth infection and complained of severe stomach cramps. Apparently, broad-spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin kill both good and bad gut bacteria, which commonly leads to abdominal pain. It seems to be a very common reaction.

My gut is already super sensitive due to my thyroid issues, so amoxicillin always causes me abdominal pain. I highly recommend calling your doctor to ask if you need a probiotic. Also, don't forget to keep up with your routine blood tests to ensure your overall parameters are stable while on heavy meds.

Yes, stomach cramps are a known side effect of amoxicillin. To save time and avoid missing work, I always ask my doctor to prescribe a probiotic capsule alongside any strong antibiotic course. It keeps the gut happy so you can go about your day without constant discomfort.

Ho na, it causes a lot of stomach burning and pain sometimes. Mere saath bhi hua tha last month when I took it for throat infection. Haan na, try having thoda dahi or buttermilk along with your meals, it really helps to calm the stomach down. Just check with your doc once if it hurts too much.

Oh, absolutely! Amoxicillin loves to throw a little party in your stomach, and unfortunately, you are not invited to enjoy it. It's just the antibiotic doing its job and clearing out everything in its path. Don't worry, just keep some curd handy and the drama should pass in a day or two.
