Can altitude sickness cause vomiting?

My friend recently went to Sikkim and got very ill, with severe vomiting, which she attributed to altitude sickness. Can altitude sickness really cause vomiting?

Oh, absolutely. During my family trip to Leh, half the bus was puking including me! My body just gave up at that height. If you are planning a trip, please take the proper tablets from your doctor beforehand so you don't spend the holiday holding a sick bag.

Yes, vomiting is a very common sign of acute mountain sickness when your body is struggling with low oxygen. You can chew on a small piece of ginger or cardamom to ease the nausea. But if you keep vomiting and cannot keep water down, please consult a doctor immediately and descend.

Hey, yes, vomiting is super common when you go up too fast! Don't stress too much, just make sure you rest for the first 24-48 hours and don't exert yourself. If it gets really bad, talk to a local doc, they have quick meds for this.

Haan na, altitude sickness se ulti toh hoti hi hai. When there is less oxygen, the stomach also gets upset. It is better to travel slowly and take a day's rest. If the vomiting doesn't stop, go to a clinic immediately.

Vomiting happens when the lack of oxygen upsets the nervous system and digestion. I always advise doing slow, conscious deep breathing to help the body adapt. Please do not force yourself to eat heavy meals, stick to light food and consult a medical professional if you feel very sick.

Haan, altitude sickness mein ulti hona bahut normal hai jab sharir ko oxygen nahi milti. Isko bilkul halka mat lo. Agar lagatar ulti ho rahi hai toh turant unchai se niche aao aur doctor ko dikhao, zidd mat karna.

I am planning my first hill station trip next month and I am very scared of getting sick. Does the vomiting start suddenly or do we get some warning signs first? Should I buy some specific medicine from a doctor before I travel?

I once ignored severe nausea and vomiting at high altitude, thinking it would pass, and ended up needing oxygen support. Please do not ignore these signs. If you start vomiting, descend to a lower altitude immediately and consult a doctor.

I barely slept the night before my mountain trek, and the next day the altitude hit me like a brick—I was vomiting my guts out. Sleep deprivation + high altitude is the worst combo ever. Take proper rest and see a doctor if you feel miserable.

Yes, it absolutely can! When we went to Rohtang Pass, I got a severe headache and started vomiting because of the sudden altitude change. Staying hydrated and acclimating slowly is key. Definitely get some preventive meds prescribed by your doctor before you go up.

Our bodies are beautiful but they need time to adapt to nature's heights. Vomiting is just the body's way of showing distress due to lack of oxygen. Keep your mind calm, drink water slowly, and please consult the local medical camp if you feel very unwell.

It is honestly so embarrassing and exhausting when you start vomiting in front of everyone on a trip. I felt so guilty for ruining the family plans, but it is a purely physical reaction to low oxygen. Please don't force yourself to keep going; just rest and see a doctor.
