Can allergies cause fever in toddlers?

My toddler often has a runny nose and sneezes a lot, and sometimes gets a mild fever with it. Our pediatrician suspects allergies. Can allergies really cause a fever in young children?

Please don't assume it is just allergies and wait. I once ignored my son's mild fever thinking it was his dust allergy, and it turned into a severe chest infection. Please get your toddler checked by a pediatrician immediately.

Hey, take a deep breath. Toddlers get fevers very easily when their bodies fight off any small bug, and it is usually not just allergies. Keep the baby hydrated, check their temperature, and take them to the pediatrician to be absolutely safe.

My 2-year-old has a runny nose and a mild fever today, and I am so worried. I thought it was just seasonal allergies from the changing weather, but has anyone else's toddler actually gotten a fever from allergies?

I agree with the others here. True allergies don't cause fever in kids, so it is best to consult a pediatrician.

Our pediatrician explained that an allergic reaction doesn't trigger the body's inflammatory response to release pyrogens, which cause fever. If a toddler has a fever, it is almost certainly a viral or bacterial infection, so a medical checkup is necessary.

Between diaper changes and no sleep, I can tell you that toddlers can get a fever from literally anything, but allergies usually aren't the culprit. Skip the internet search and just call your doctor so you both can get some sleep!

You can wipe the baby's forehead with a damp cloth of normal water to keep them comfortable. However, because toddlers are very small, a fever should always be checked by a proper doctor to ensure there is no serious infection.

When my daughter had a fever, I took her to Lilavati Hospital. The pediatrician there clearly told me that allergies never cause a true fever, and it is always some infection. Please ask your doctor clearly instead of guessing.

My niece gets seasonal sneezes, but whenever she runs a fever, we know it is a cold or some other infection, not just the allergy. Just give your toddler plenty of fluids and book a quick visit with your pediatrician to ease your mind.

I don't have kids myself, but I know how fragile toddlers can be, and it is always better to be cautious. Since fevers are usually signs of infection, please consult a pediatrician rather than relying on forum advice.

Actually yaar, allergies don't cause fever in toddlers. If there is a fever, it is probably a viral infection or a cold they caught at daycare. Just take the little one to a pediatrician to get the right medicine.

I was looking this up because my cousin's baby is sick. Most medical sites say 'hay fever' is a misleading name because allergies don't actually raise a toddler's body temperature. It is usually a viral cold instead.
