Can acid reflux cause heart attack?

Sometimes my acid reflux symptoms are so intense, with a crushing chest pain, that I get really scared. My neighbor had a heart attack recently, and he said his symptoms were similar to my acidity. Can acid reflux ever lead to a heart attack?

Hey, let me clarify this. Acid reflux absolutely cannot cause a heart attack, as they are two completely different systems. However, the chest pain from severe acidity can feel exactly like a heart attack, which is why people panic. If you have any radiating arm pain or sweating, please go to the hospital immediately.

No, acidity cannot cause a heart attack, but their symptoms can look very similar. Please see a doctor immediately if you have heavy chest pain or breathing issues.

Don't worry, my child, acid reflux does not trigger a heart attack. I have had bad acidity for forty years and my heart is perfectly fine. But yes, the burning sensation can be very scary, so always keep some cold milk handy and consult a doctor if the pain feels different or heavy.

Look, acid reflux is a stomach issue and a heart attack is a heart issue, one doesn't cause the other. But because the esophagus and heart are close, the pain feels similar. Stop panicking, but if the chest pain is accompanied by sweating or breathlessness, go to the emergency room immediately.

I am new to dealing with acidity and the chest pain recently made me so scared of having a heart attack. How can we actually tell the difference between normal reflux pain and something serious? Should I get some tests done to be sure?
