Can acid reflux cause ear pain on one side?

Been having this constant burning sensation in my chest and throat for a few weeks, which I think is acidity. But lately, my right ear has also been hurting quite a bit. I'm wondering if the two could be connected, ya fir yeh alag problem hai?

I used to get a sharp ache in my left ear when my reflux was bad. Along with the doctor's medicine, going for a brisk 20-minute walk after dinner really helped improve my digestion and reduced the acid buildup. If your health allows, light exercise can do wonders for reflux.

I had severe pain in only my left ear along with throat burning, so I went to a major hospital to get it checked. The ENT specialist confirmed that acid reflux can indeed cause one-sided ear pain due to the shared nerve pathways, but recommended a proper ear examination to rule out actual ear infections first.

Bro, yes! Last week my right ear was hurting so bad and I thought my headphones caused it, but it was just terrible acidity from all the late-night tea and stress. Once I took some gelusil and slept with my head elevated, the ear pain literally disappeared.

My doctor explained that this is called referred otalgia, where acid irritates the vagus or glossopharyngeal nerve in the throat, sending pain signals to just one ear. He advised me to track if the pain happens after eating specific foods, but emphasized getting an ear checkup to ensure there's no fluid buildup.

Hey there! Yes, the nerves in your throat and ear are connected, so acid backflow can definitely trigger pain on just one side. Try avoiding spicy dinners and see if the pain drops. But if you see any fluid discharge or have a fever, please get a doctor to check it immediately.

Please be very careful. I ignored my one-sided ear pain thinking it was just acidity, but it turned out to be a severe middle ear infection that got complicated because of delay. It is always safer to visit an ENT specialist to get your ear canal properly examined.
