Can acid reflux cause diarrhea and vomiting?

I have chronic acid reflux, but recently I've also had episodes of diarrhea and vomiting, which makes me feel very weak. I'm wondering if these are all connected or if it's something else entirely. Can acid reflux cause diarrhea and vomiting?

Yes, severe acid reflux can trigger vomiting, and if there is a gut infection, you might get diarrhea too. Please consult a doctor if it doesn't stop.

Oh no, that sounds like a double whammy! 😟 Yes, extreme acidity can definitely make you throw up, and a disturbed stomach often leads to loose motions. Sip some ORS water and take it easy, you will feel better soon!

With my high BP, vomiting and diarrhea can quickly cause dehydration and mess up my electrolyte balance. If you are experiencing both along with acidity, please get your vitals checked by a doctor. A healthy routine and simple meals are key to managing this.

When I had constant vomiting and loose stools, I went straight to a gastroenterologist at a proper hospital. He explained that while reflux causes vomiting, diarrhea is usually a sign of an infection or IBS. Please consult a specialist to get the right diagnosis and treatment.

Let's be real—if you are dealing with both vomiting and diarrhea, it's likely food poisoning or a stomach bug rather than just simple acid reflux. Stop searching online, stay hydrated, and go visit a clinic before you get severely dehydrated.

I totally understand how exhausting this is, it leaves you with absolutely no energy. While reflux can make you vomit, diarrhea usually means your gut is irritated by something you ate. Try having some fresh coconut water or light pomegranate juice, and please rest up.

At my age, I always recommend letting the stomach rest when it is this upset. While acidity can make you vomit, diarrhea needs gentle care; try some light barley water or buttermilk with a pinch of roasted cumin. But if the weakness increases, do not delay visiting the local doctor.

I know how scary it is when your body is acting up from both ends, it honestly makes you feel so anxious and helpless. Acid reflux can definitely trigger a strong gag reflex, but please try to calm down and sip water slowly. If it continues, definitely see a doctor to get some relief.

I see many people asking about this combination. Severe reflux can indeed lead to vomiting due to throat irritation, but diarrhea usually points to a gut infection or dietary trigger. Keep yourself hydrated with salt-sugar water and please consult a physician if you don't see improvement by tomorrow.

I literally recovered from this last week! The constant acid reflux was making me nauseous till I threw up, and then the stomach infection triggered diarrhea. My doctor put me on a light diet of curd-rice and ORS, which helped me get back on my feet in two days.
