Can accutane cause eczema?

My skin has become really dry and itchy since I started taking Accutane for my acne. I'm worried it might be causing something like eczema. Can Accutane actually cause eczema as a side effect?

Bro, Accutane made my face so dry I looked like a peeling onion, and I barely slept because of the itching! Yes, it can cause eczema-like dry patches because it literally sucks all the oil out of your skin. Keep a heavy moisturizer next to your bed.

With my thyroid, I know how medication can dry out your skin, and Accutane is famous for causing extreme dryness and eczema. Please make sure you are getting your regular blood tests done as prescribed, and report this rash to your doctor during your next visit.

Accutane dries the skin completely, which can trigger dry eczema patches. While using pure virgin coconut oil or aloe vera can help soothe the redness at home, you must consult your dermatologist if the rash starts cracking or bleeding.

My son had the exact same issue when he was on this acne medication years ago. His skin got very red and dry, almost like eczema, but it went away completely after the treatment ended. Don't worry, just use a good moisturizer.

It is so incredibly frustrating to deal with eczema while you are already struggling with severe acne, I totally feel your pain. Yes, Accutane is notorious for causing dry, itchy eczema patches. Be gentle with yourself and use a thick, soothing barrier cream.

I ignored the dry red patches on my arms while on Accutane, and they turned into a severe skin infection that required antibiotics. Please don't ignore it if the eczema gets painful. Ask your dermatologist to prescribe a mild steroid cream or adjust your dose.
