Can a virus cause chills without fever?

For the past two days, I've had chills on and off, but I don't have a fever at all. I'm trying to figure out what's causing it. Can a virus cause chills even without a fever?

I am feeling sudden shivering and goosebumps today but my thermometer shows exactly 98.4. Is this normal during a viral infection? Has anyone else experienced severe chills without actually having a high temperature?

Yes, absolutely! Sometimes your body is just preparing to fight off the bugs, so you get those cold shivers first. Wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, drink some hot soup, and you'll feel much better.

Yes, viral onset often starts with just chills as your core temperature adjusts. My tip is to drink warm ginger water and avoid sudden temperature changes (like direct AC draft). If it continues for more than two days, get a doctor's opinion.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai. Kai baar bukhar andar hi andar hota hai aur hume bas thand lagti hai. Garm paani pijiye, dhang se aaram kariye aur agar zyada pareshani ho toh nikat ke sarkari clinic ya doctor ko dikha lijiye.

I used to panic and think something was seriously wrong with my heart when I got chills without a fever. But my doctor explained it's just the immune system reacting or a fever that hasn't registered yet. It's totally common, just rest and stay warm.
