Can a uti turn into a kidney infection?

My doctor mentioned that if a UTI isn't treated properly or quickly, it can spread. I'm worried about complications. Is it true that a UTI can actually turn into a kidney infection?

Yes, indeed it can. If you ignore the burning sensation and don't take proper antibiotics, the bacteria can travel up the ureters to your kidneys. I always tell people to get a simple urine test done early instead of waiting for severe back pain or shivering to start.

It can spread if not cared for properly, as the body needs timely support to heal. Stay positive, drink lots of clean water, and consult a good doctor to get the right treatment. Taking care of your health is a form of respect to your body.

I went through this and it was honestly so terrifying and painful. I delayed my treatment because I was too scared to go to the doctor, and it turned into a kidney infection with high fever. Please don't put yourself through that stress, get it checked early.

It is much cheaper to treat a simple UTI than a full-blown kidney infection which might require hospitalization. A basic urine culture test costs only around 300 to 500 rupees and will tell the doctor the exact medicine you need. Don't delay and save yourself from heavy hospital bills later.

I am really scared to hear this. I have had a mild burning sensation for three days now, is it possible that it has already reached my kidneys? What symptoms should I watch out for to know if it is getting dangerous?

Don't panic, but yes, an untreated UTI can move up to the kidneys. If you are starting to feel lower back pain, chills, or fever, those are signs to see a doctor immediately. Just get it checked today and you will be absolutely fine under proper care.
