Can a urine infection affect a pregnancy?

I just got diagnosed with a urine infection during my second trimester. I'm really concerned about my baby. Will this infection affect my pregnancy or the baby's health?

Yes, absolutely. My doctor explained that during pregnancy, the physical changes make it easier for bacteria to travel up to the kidneys. If a UTI is left untreated, it can increase the risk of preterm labor or low birth weight. It is highly recommended to get a urine culture test and take pregnancy-safe antibiotics prescribed by your OB-GYN.

Managing any infection during pregnancy is very crucial, just like managing blood pressure. When my wife was pregnant, we had to be very careful with her routine checkups because any infection can stress the body and affect maternal health. Please ensure regular doctor visits and don't skip the routine urine tests they recommend.

Ah, pregnancy brings enough back pain and sleepless nights on its own, you definitely don't need a painful urine infection adding to the fun! On a serious note, UTIs can become quite serious for pregnant women if ignored, sometimes even causing early labor. Get it checked by your doctor quickly so you can focus on resting.

Between running to the bathroom every five minutes because of the baby and now suspecting a UTI, sleep is officially a myth for me. Yes, a urine infection can absolutely affect pregnancy if it spreads to your kidneys, which is a major headache. Get those safe antibiotics from your doc soon so you can at least try to get some sleep!

I completely understand how terrifying it feels to worry about every single symptom when you are pregnant; I used to panic constantly during my pregnancy. Please take a deep breath. A UTI is very common and easily treatable with the right medication, but you must contact your doctor today so they can clear the infection safely.
