Can a sunburn cause a fever blister?

I spent a lot of time outdoors last weekend and got a pretty bad sunburn on my face. Now, I've noticed a small blister forming near my lip. Is it possible that a sunburn can trigger a fever blister, or is this just a coincidence?

Yes, this actually happens to me whenever I spend too much time at the beach without sunscreen. The extreme sun exposure acts as a trigger for the herpes simplex virus, and I end up with a painful fever blister on my lip.

Hey, don't stress too much! Sunburn is a classic trigger for fever blisters because the UV rays can activate the dormant virus in your skin. Just apply some soothing gel or consult a doctor for a quick ointment.

Yes, sunburn absolutely can trigger fever blisters (cold sores) because intense sunlight stresses the skin and immune system.

It can trigger them, but be careful because severe blistering from sunburn can sometimes lead to bacterial skin infections. When I had a bad flare-up, it got infected and took weeks to heal. I highly recommend showing it to a dermatologist.

Haan na, UV rays can irritate the skin very badly and trigger these blisters. Whenever my cousin travels in the hot sun, she gets them on her lips. Always use a good SPF lip balm and stay hydrated.
