Can a sinus infection cause a fever in adults?

Down with a really bad sinus infection for the past few days, I'm now also feeling quite feverish. I always thought sinus infections mainly caused cold-like symptoms. Can an adult actually get a fever because of a sinus infection?

Yes, it absolutely can. When I had a severe sinus infection last winter, the fever and intense facial pain made me feel so miserable and exhausted. It's really hard to deal with, so please take proper rest and don't hesitate to see a doctor.

I was actually just reading about this because my roommate has a bad cold and a mild fever. It turns out that a bacterial sinus infection often causes a fever as your body tries to fight off the infection. Very interesting how the body works.

I totally get it, having a fever on top of that heavy sinus pressure is incredibly exhausting. Yes, a sinus infection can definitely cause a fever in adults when the inflammation is high. Please take care, drink warm fluids, and consult a doctor.

Beta, a sinus infection can indeed bring on a mild fever. You can do steam inhalation with a drop of eucalyptus oil and drink warm tulsi tea to find some relief. But if the fever is high, please go and consult a doctor immediately.

Yes, a fever is a standard immune response to a sinus infection, especially if it's bacterial. Keep a thermometer handy to monitor the temperature. If the fever goes above 101 or lasts more than three days, you should definitely visit a doctor.

Yes, a sinus infection can cause a fever. Managing my high blood pressure has made me very careful about taking random over-the-counter cold medicines, as some can spike BP. Please consult your doctor for safe prescription options.

Haan, it totally can! I had a high fever with my sinus infection last year and was so surprised. My doctor told me it's quite common when the sinuses get badly blocked and infected. Make sure you rest and take steam.

My sinuses always act up during monsoon, and yes, I have gotten a fever with it a few times. Along with your doctor's medicines, trying saline nasal rinses and keeping a warm towel over your face really helps relieve the congestion.

An acute sinus infection can certainly present with a low-grade fever in adults, as the body fights the localized infection. However, if you have a high fever or severe facial swelling, it could indicate a more serious infection. Consulting a physician is highly recommended.

My teenager had a sinus infection with a fever last month and we had to visit the pediatrician. For adults, it's the same—fever is your body's way of fighting the infection. Keep them hydrated and consult a doctor if the fever doesn't come down.
