Can a rheumatologist diagnose cancer?

I've been seeing a rheumatologist for my joint pain and fatigue for a few months now. Recently, I've also had some unexplained weight loss and night sweats. My doctor is doing various tests. I was just curious, is it possible for a rheumatologist to also be able to diagnose something like cancer if the symptoms overlap?

I totally understand how stressful it is when you are trying to figure out a diagnosis and feeling anxious. While a rheumatologist focuses on autoimmune issues and arthritis, they often order detailed blood tests and scans. If they suspect anything else like cancer, they will guide you to an oncologist right away.

Keep your faith strong and do not worry too much, dear. Rheumatologists are highly skilled doctors who look at complex symptoms. If they find any signs during their testing, they will surely guide you to the right specialist for proper care.

Actually yaar, rheumatologists deal with bone, joint, and immune stuff. They don't specialize in cancer, but they can easily spot if something is off in your scans or blood reports. If there's a doubt, they'll just refer you to an oncologist.

I am so sleep-deprived that I can barely diagnose what's wrong with my phone, but basically, no, they aren't cancer docs. They might find some abnormal reports while checking your joints and then tell you to visit an oncologist. Save yourself the stress and see the right specialist.

I am a bit new to all these medical terms, but I thought rheumatologists only treated arthritis. Can they also see cancer signs in normal blood tests? Please let me know if anyone has gone through this kind of diagnosis.

Managing my diabetes has taught me that every specialist has a specific role. A rheumatologist deals with autoimmune conditions, but if your symptoms overlap with oncological issues, they will run diagnostic tests and refer you to a cancer specialist.

When I was getting tested for my thyroid, I realized how important regular blood work is. A rheumatologist might spot warning signs in your tests, but they will always refer you to an oncologist for a definitive cancer diagnosis. Keep up with your doctor appointments.
