Can a pharmacist test for diabetes?

My father has diabetes, and I've been feeling a bit tired lately, especially after meals. I was wondering if I could just go to a local pharmacy for a quick check-up. Do they have the facility to test blood sugar levels there, or do I need a proper lab?

Actually local chemists only do a quick finger-prick blood glucose test. My doctor told me that for a proper diabetes diagnosis, you must get an HbA1c test and a fasting blood sugar test from a proper lab. Pharmacists can give you a quick check, but they cannot officially diagnose you.

Please get it done at a proper lab, friend. I ignored my symptoms for months thinking a quick chemist test was enough, and my sugar levels went dangerously high. Go to a diagnostic center and take a doctor's advice immediately.

They can definitely do a quick sugar test on their Glucometer if you walk in. It is very handy if you want a rough idea, but don't rely only on that. Better to visit a lab and get a proper blood test done so you can show a doctor.

They only do the basic finger-prick test, nothing more. If you really suspect you have diabetes, book an home collection lab test on an app. It's much more accurate and you'll need the reports anyway to show a physician.

Some bigger pharmacy chains have small clinics inside where they do checkups. But honestly, managing these things needs a proper doctor. I have high BP and getting routine tests at a certified lab is the only way to track your health properly alongside daily walks.
