Can a person with diabetes join the military?

My younger brother has always wanted to join the defence forces, but he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a few years back. He manages it well with insulin. Is it possible for a person with diabetes to be eligible for joining the military?

No, unfortunately, you cannot join the military with diabetes. The rigorous training and medical guidelines do not permit it for safety reasons.

Look brother, keeping it real—no, the military doesn't take anyone with diabetes. The training is extreme and they can't risk anyone's sugar dropping or spiking during a mission. It is harsh, but it is for your own safety and the safety of the unit.

I go to Apollo Hospital for my checkups, and the doctors there also confirm that chronic conditions like diabetes are a strict disqualification for active military duty. If you want to double-check, you can read the official military recruitment medical guidelines or ask a medical board doctor.

Hello, I am new here and just learning about recruitment rules. It makes sense that active combat roles are out, but do they also reject people with diabetes for desk jobs or technical roles in the defense department? Pls guide if anyone has idea.

Unfortunately, diabetes is generally a disqualifying condition for joining the military forces. I know this can be very disappointing to hear if it was your dream. Wishing you peace and success in other paths.

I totally get it, wanting to serve the country is a beautiful dream and hearing a 'no' because of a medical condition hurts a lot. But please remember there are other incredible ways to serve, like UPSC or other government civil services where diabetes is not a barrier.

Yes, standard military guidelines don't allow diabetes because they worry about sudden hypoglycemia in high-stress zones. I get so anxious just thinking about how hard it must be for candidates who find out during their medicals. If you are dealing with this, please take care and don't lose hope.

Hey bro, don't stress too much about this. Yes, military medicals are super strict and they won't clear diabetes. But honestly, you have so many cool career options open in the corporate or tech world. Focus on keeping your health top-notch first!
