Can a person live with 1 kidney?

My friend is considering donating a kidney to his relative, and I was wondering about the long-term implications for the donor. Is it safe and possible for a person to lead a normal life with just one kidney?

Yes, absolutely, but you have to budget for regular routine tests to monitor its health. A basic kidney function test (KFT) and urine routine only cost around 800-1200 rupees, and doing this twice a year prevents expensive complications later. Plan your diet and budget accordingly.

God has made our bodies incredibly resilient, and living beautifully with one kidney is very much possible. Just keep your thoughts peaceful, drink clean water, and respect your body. Everything will be fine if you take daily care with a happy heart.

Yes, it is extremely common. When my aunt donated her kidney at Apollo Hospital, the senior nephrologist clearly told us that her remaining kidney would easily do the work of two. Just ask your doctor clearly about what lifestyle adjustments are needed for safety.

Yes, you can lead a completely normal life with just one kidney. Just make sure to avoid over-the-counter painkillers without consulting a doctor first.

Yo, my roommate has had only one kidney since childhood and he is literally the most active guy in our hostel. He just plays football, eats normal mess food, and stays hydrated. It is honestly not as scary as it sounds online!
