Can a person donate part of their liver?

My cousin needs a liver transplant, and we're looking into all possible options for donation. I heard that sometimes a living person can donate a part of their liver. Is this true, and is it a safe procedure for the donor?

Yes, liver lobe donation is very common now. However, the donor must go through a series of strict health checks to make sure they are fully fit. Just like I manage my high blood pressure with lifestyle changes and regular doctor visits, keeping yourself healthy is key if you ever plan to donate.

Yes, they absolutely can. The amazing thing about the human liver is that it can actually regenerate back to its full size for both the donor and the recipient within a few months.

Yes, they can! 🌟 It is one of the most incredible medical procedures where a living donor can save a life, and both livers grow back to normal size in just a few weeks. Science is truly amazing! ❤️

My uncle actually donated a part of his liver to my cousin three years ago. The surgery was major, but both of them are completely healthy and active now. It's crazy how fast the liver grows back, so yes, it's totally possible.

Yes, you can! Our liver is basically like a superpower organ that grows back like a lizard's tail. Just make sure you are super healthy before you volunteer to share a piece of it!
