Can a pap smear detect pcos?

Having irregular periods and some other symptoms that make me think I might have PCOS. My doctor suggested a pap smear during my last visit. Can this test tell me if I have PCOS, or is it for something else entirely?

Honestly, no. A pap smear just checks for cervical cell changes, not your hormones or ovaries. I barely get sleep managing my own PCOS, and trust me, it was diagnosed through an ultrasound and blood tests, not a pap smear.

No way, bro. My girlfriend has PCOS and she had to get blood tests done for hormones and an ultrasound to see the cysts. Pap smear is completely different, it's for cervical cancer screening.

I was also wondering about this because my periods are so irregular. But my doctor said a pap smear won't show PCOS. Did anyone else here have to get a specific pelvic scan done to get their diagnosis?

No, a pap smear cannot detect PCOS. For PCOS, the most practical solution is to visit a gynecologist, get an ultrasound, and focus on basic things like reducing sugar and doing daily walking.

Don't panic! A pap smear is just a routine test and it doesn't check for PCOS at all. I was scared too when my doctor ordered both, but they are for completely different things. PCOS is easily managed once diagnosed via ultrasound.

No, a pap smear is only for cervical health. For PCOS, you need a pelvic ultrasound and hormone blood tests like thyroid and prolactin. Plan your budget for these tests as they can cost around 2000-3000 rupees total in private labs.

No, a pap smear won't help with PCOS. If you suspect PCOS, do consult a doctor for a scan. Meanwhile, drinking spearmint tea and eating home-cooked, low-carb meals can really help balance your hormones naturally.

No, it doesn't. I ignored my irregular periods for two years thinking my normal pap smear meant everything was fine. It was a huge mistake. Please get a proper pelvic ultrasound done to check for PCOS.

Just got my PCOS under control recently! A pap smear definitely won't show it. You need a doctor to look at your symptoms like acne or weight gain, and do a scan of your ovaries. Don't worry, it is very manageable with the right lifestyle.

Haan, bilkul nahi. Pap smear toh cervix ke cells check karne ke liye hota hai na. PCOS ke liye toh doctor ultrasound hi likhte hain. Don't worry, dr se baat karlo ek baar.
