Can a newborn sleep in a pack and play?

My sister gave us her old pack and play for the baby, and it seems really convenient for keeping the baby close in the living room. I'm wondering about night time though. Is it safe for a newborn to sleep in a pack and play?

Yes, they can sleep in it, just make sure the mattress pad is flat and firm. When you are managing baby sleep along with health issues like thyroid, keeping things simple and safe in your room helps a lot. Always ask your pediatrician if you are unsure.

Our baby had minor breathing issues early on, so we had to be extremely cautious. Pack and plays are generally approved for sleep, but only use the original thin mattress pad that came with it. Never add extra soft mattresses or blankets as they can block breathing.

Absolutely, it is a very practical and budget-friendly option since it works as a bed and a playpen later. Just place a tight fitted sheet on the standard pad, keep it next to your bed, and you are good to go without spending a fortune on heavy wooden cribs.

Yes, pack and plays are absolutely safety-certified for sleep in most countries. Just stick to the firm pad it comes with and don't add any aftermarket mattresses. It is highly practical, space-saving, and perfectly safe.

Yes, they definitely can! It is basically a portable baby apartment. Just don't try to make it 'cozier' by adding extra fluffy pillows, or your baby will be sleeping on a safety hazard. Keep it boring and empty!

Yes, a pack and play is considered a very safe sleeping option for newborns as long as you use the firm mattress pad that comes with it.
