Can a mini stroke cause diarrhea?

My uncle recently had a mini-stroke and since then, he has been complaining of stomach issues and occasional loose motions. I was wondering if there is any connection between the two. Can a mini-stroke cause something like diarrhea?

Usually, a mini stroke affects our nerves and brain, not directly our stomach. But the sheer stress of it on the body can sometimes upset your digestion. Keeping the mind calm with simple deep breathing really helps the gut heal during stressful medical scares.

Brain and stomach are connected, but a mini stroke causing diarrhea sounds like a very bad double lottery. It is much more likely that some hospital food or sudden panic is doing the mischief. Don't worry too much, just ask the doc to be sure!

Honestly, after staying awake for 36 hours, my stomach also does weird things. But if someone had an actual mini stroke and now has loose motion, it might be the new medicines the doctor gave them. Definitely check those prescription side effects before losing sleep over it.

Yes, I agree with the others. When my uncle had a TIA, his stomach got upset mainly because of the high-dose blood thinners they started immediately.

I went through a TIA last year and faced this exact issue. It wasn't the stroke itself, but the sudden anxiety and the heavy loading dose of aspirin my doctor prescribed. Keep them hydrated with ORS and call their doctor to adjust the medications if needed.
