Can a mental health counselor prescribe medication?

My friend suggested I see a mental health counselor for my stress. I was wondering if they can actually give prescriptions for medicines, ya fir sirf therapy karte hain? Need to understand this properly before I book an appointment.

Honestly bro, I can barely prescribe myself an early bedtime, but no, counselors can't give meds. Only psychiatrists who have a proper medical degree can do that. Counselors are just there to help you talk things out and not lose your mind.

I am actually quite new to this and was wondering the same thing. So if I go to a counselor first and they feel I need some medicine, will they tell me to go to a psychiatrist? Or should I just book an appointment with a doctor directly?

Aiyyo, my daily joint pains are enough to deal with, but to answer your question, counselors don't have the license for writing prescriptions. They do the therapy and talking part, which is also very exhausting! For actual medicines, you have to visit a psychiatrist.

No, they cannot prescribe anything. Please don't delay getting a proper medical consultation if you are struggling. I ignored my mental health issues for years thinking I could deal with it alone, and it only made things much worse. Get a proper checkup from a qualified doctor.

Haan na, only a proper doctor like a psychiatrist can prescribe medicines. Counselors deal with therapy and counseling stuff, ho na. If you think you might need actual medical treatment, it's always best to consult a medical doc first.
