Can a love bite cause cancer?

My friend recently got a love bite and now she's super worried. Someone told her it can cause cancer. Is this true, or is it just a silly rumour going around?

I totally understand why you are stressing over this, honestly I also google every small thing and end up panicking for days. Rest assured, a love bite is just a tiny bruise under the skin and has absolutely nothing to do with cancer. Relax, you are completely fine!

Bro, chill. I had the same scare last year after a crazy weekend and read some weird stuff online. It is literally just a Hickey, it will fade away in 3-4 days max, no cancer risk at all.

Same here, I usually just read these forums silently but wanted to reply to help you calm down. It is just broken tiny blood vessels under the skin that heal on their own in a week.

I seriously panicked and checked my neck in the mirror twenty times a day thinking the worst. Actually, my doctor friend laughed and told me it is medically impossible for a hickey to cause cancer. It is totally harmless.

I used to worry about this during my college days too. It is just superficial bruising, so don't stress. Just apply some cold compress or ice on it for the first 24 hours to help the swelling go down faster.
