Can a liver grow back after being removed?

My husband's cousin recently had a part of his liver removed due to a medical condition. We were discussing it as a family, and some people said the liver can regenerate. Is it true that the liver can grow back after a portion of it has been surgically removed?

Yes, the human liver is actually famous for its ability to regenerate back to its normal size, even if up to 70% of it is removed. However, this regeneration depends entirely on the overall health of the person and the liver tissue left behind. It is very important to consult a transplant specialist or hepatologist to understand how this works safely in specific medical cases.

It is quite a marvel of nature, yes, the liver can grow back after a part of it is donated or removed. But for this to happen smoothly, you must maintain an extremely healthy lifestyle. As someone with high BP, I know how crucial regular checkups and keeping your vital stats stable are for any kind of organ healing.

I totally get it, if you or a loved one are facing a liver surgery or donation, the whole process must feel so overwhelming and scary. But rest assured, the liver is incredibly unique and does regenerate back to its original size within a few months. Please stay strong and keep supporting your family through this journey.

Yes, the liver does have the ability to grow back after a partial removal. However, if the patient has other health issues like diabetes, liver health and regeneration can be slower. It's vital to keep sugar levels strictly controlled and eat a highly disciplined diet under a doctor's care during the recovery phase.

Haan na, it is actually a miracle how the liver can regenerate itself! If a portion is removed during a transplant, both the donor's and the recipient's liver parts grow back to normal size very fast. Still, a doctor's guidance is very important for proper recovery, so always stay in touch with them, okay?

My cousin donated a portion of his liver to his daughter almost fifteen years ago, and both of them are doing wonderfully healthy today. His liver grew back to its normal size in just a few months, just as the doctors had promised. God has made our bodies with amazing healing powers, so please don't lose heart.
