Can a herniated disc cause hip pain?

After being diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back a few months ago, I've started feeling a lot of pain in my hip. I'm wondering if this hip pain is connected to my back problem. Can a herniated disc also cause pain in the hip?

Yes, it can. When a disc herniates in the lumbar spine, it presses on the sciatic nerve which shoots pain right into the hip and glutes. Focus on maintaining a strong core and correct form during workouts, but definitely check with a physiotherapist before doing any exercises.

Hey, don't worry. Yes, a herniated disc in the lower back can definitely cause pain that radiates down to your hip because of nerve compression. Keep yourself comfortable, avoid heavy lifting, and see a doctor to get a proper treatment plan.

Yes, it can. I ignored my radiating hip pain thinking it was just a muscle pull, which led to severe nerve compression and a very long recovery process. Please don't ignore it and consult a doctor immediately to prevent complications.

Yes, my son had a minor disc issue from sports and the pain would shoot straight into his hip. We found that proper rest and physical therapy under a doctor's guidance helped him recover completely. Please take care and consult a specialist.

Yes, lumbar disc issues frequently affect the hips. In my experience, gentle stretching and specific yoga asanas like Balasana can relieve the pressure on the nerve, but you should only do them after getting a green light from your doctor.

Yes, it can cause hip pain due to nerve pressure. While warm compresses and herbal oil massages can help soothe the radiating ache, you must see an orthopedic doctor if the pain is severe or causes numbness.
