Can a general surgeon remove kidney stones?

My reports confirmed I have a few kidney stones, and the pain is getting quite bad. The doctor mentioned surgery might be an option if they don't pass naturally. Can a general surgeon perform this kind of procedure, ya fir I need a specialist?

Bro, a general surgeon can do it, but honestly, go to a urologist if you can. I had a 8mm stone and my urologist sorted it out quickly with a laser procedure. Urologists are specialists for this, so it is just much safer and easier.

Yes, they can perform the surgery, but in many tier-2 cities, people prefer urologists because they have specialized laser equipment. If your stone is small, try drinking 3-4 liters of water daily as advised by doctors first to see if it passes naturally before jumping to surgery.

Hey, don't stress too much about this, alright? Yes, general surgeons are fully qualified for kidney stone surgeries, but if you have option, just consult a urologist for peace of mind. Just drink lots of water and get a doctor's opinion, you'll be absolutely fine!

Actually yes, my uncle got his stone removed by a general surgeon in our town. But nowadays most people recommend a urologist because they do those cool non-invasive laser treatments. Check what doctors are available near u.

Yes, they can, but when my son had a kidney stone, we chose a pediatric urologist because they are highly specialized in this tract. It is always better to go to a specialist for delicate things like kidneys. Make sure your child drinks enough water daily to prevent new ones.

Look, yes, a general surgeon is capable, but kidney stones fall under urology. Why take a chance? Go to a proper urologist who deals with this day in and day out, get an ultrasound done, and follow their advice strictly.
