Can a fracture cause fever?

Last week I broke my leg, and now I've developed a slight fever. My family says it's normal after an injury, but I'm not sure if a fracture can actually cause fever.

I totally get it, dealing with a painful bone fracture is already so hard, and getting a fever on top of it must be so scary. Sometimes a mild fever can happen due to the body's inflammatory response to the injury. But please do not ignore it and consult your doctor to rule out any infection.

A mild fever can sometimes happen because of the severe inflammation when a bone breaks. However, you must be very careful because a fever can also indicate an infection, especially if there was an open wound or surgery. Please contact your orthopedic doctor right away to be safe.

A fracture is a major physical trauma, and the body's natural response can sometimes cause a low-grade temperature. However, managing stress and regular vitals checkups is crucial when healing from such injuries. Please consult your orthopedic doctor to ensure there is no internal infection.

Yeah, when I fractured my leg playing football, I got a mild fever the next day. The doctor told me it was just my body reacting to the tissue trauma. But if your fever is really high or the cast area feels hot, you need to go to the hospital immediately.

Please get this checked immediately. When I broke my wrist, I ignored a mild fever thinking it was just pain-related, but it was actually a deep tissue infection that became quite serious. Don't make the same mistake I did; show it to your doctor right away.

According to what my doctor explained when my father had a fracture, a low-grade fever within the first 24-48 hours can be a normal physiological response to tissue injury. However, if the fever occurs later, or is accompanied by severe pain, swelling, or redness, it could mean an infection. Please consult your doctor.
