Can a foetus feel pain?

Now that I'm in my third trimester, sometimes when the baby moves, I just think about what it experiences inside. It makes me wonder if a foetus can feel pain.

Most medical research says that a fetus can start reacting to external stimuli and potentially feel pain in the later stages of pregnancy, usually after 24 to 26 weeks. It's why doctors recommend staying calm and doing light walking if allowed. Do discuss any concerns with your gynecologist.

From what I've read in health journals, the neural pathways for feeling pain don't fully develop until the third trimester, around 24 weeks or later. Keeping a healthy, active lifestyle during pregnancy is great for the baby. Always consult your OB-GYN for accurate medical facts.

According to fetal development trackers and medical studies, the nervous system isn't sufficiently developed to process pain signals until around the 24th week of pregnancy. Before that, any movements are just reflex actions. I highly suggest consulting your gynecologist for a detailed explanation.

I was reading about baby development and wondered if they can actually feel pain inside the womb. Does the baby feel it if the mother gets a minor bump or does a sudden movement? I would be really grateful if someone could explain what doctors say about this.

I completely understand why you are asking this; worrying about the baby's well-being can cause so much anxiety during pregnancy. Most doctors say a fetus cannot perceive pain until the third trimester when the brain connections are ready. Please speak to your doctor to ease your worries.

Medical studies indicate that the sensory connections required to perceive pain are only established in the later stages of pregnancy, around the third trimester. Keeping stress and BP under control is vital for the baby's health. Please consult your doctor for precise medical information.
