Can a female donate a kidney to a male?

My brother's kidneys are failing, and the doctor said he needs a transplant. I want to donate one of mine, but my family is asking if a female kidney is compatible for a male recipient. Can a woman actually donate a kidney to a man?

Yes, medically it is totally possible and happens all the time. But honestly, the doctors at any big multi-specialty hospital will do a series of cross-matching tests to check compatibility. It is best to schedule an appointment with a senior nephrologist and get all your doubts cleared directly from them.

It is completely possible medically. But as someone managing diabetes, I would say they will check the donor's overall health very strictly, especially blood sugar and kidney function. If there is any pre-existing issue like high sugar, the doctors might advise against it, so a detailed checkup is a must first.

My aunt actually donated her kidney to my uncle three years back. The doctors did some tests for a couple of weeks to match everything, and touchwood both of them are doing super fine now. So yes, a female can definitely donate to a male without any issues if matching is clear.

Actually I was reading about this exact thing last week because of a news article! Gender doesn't block kidney donation at all, as long as blood groups and tissue types match. It is so fascinating how science works, but definitely check the legal and medical paperwork with a proper hospital.

Yes, my dear, the body's capacity to heal and give life is beautiful. A female can absolutely donate to a male as long as all medical parameters align. Just ensure the donor has a healthy lifestyle and continues gentle breathing exercises post-recovery to keep their energy levels high.
