Can a diabetic fast for 7 days?

Hearing about some long fasts, even up to seven days, for spiritual cleansing or health benefits, I'm curious. As a long-term diabetic, is such a prolonged fast ever advisable or even safe for someone with my condition?

Fasting for 7 days is extremely dangerous for anyone with diabetes. It can lead to severe hypoglycemia, muscle wasting, and a medical emergency called ketoacidosis. Please do not attempt this under any circumstances without continuous medical supervision.

I used to panic about doing even short fasts, thinking it would ruin my body, but then I learned how to manage my meals. However, a 7-day fast is a massive step and highly risky for diabetics. Don't worry, you don't need such extreme methods; just work with your doctor on a safe diet plan.

Managing insulin issues with PCOS has taught me that extreme fasting can severely disrupt hormones and blood sugar. A 7-day fast sounds very risky and could cause a dangerous crash. It's much safer to focus on balanced, consistent meals and consult your specialist.

I can't give medical advice, but in my own journey with diabetes, even skipping meals for a single day caused major fluctuations in my readings. A 7-day fast is something I would never attempt. It is always best to stick to what your doctor advises for your routine.

Oh my, a 7-day fast sounds incredibly scary! I would be constantly terrified of fainting or my sugar levels crashing to dangerous levels. Please, please don't do this on your own; make sure to check with your doctor first to keep yourself safe.
