Can a cystoscopy detect prostate cancer?

My urologist suggested a cystoscopy to investigate my prostate issues further. I'm trying to understand what this procedure entails. Can a cystoscopy actually detect prostate cancer, or is it for other problems?

A cystoscopy lets the doctor look inside the urethra and bladder, so it might show if the prostate is blocking the path, but it's not the main test for prostate cancer. I suggest checking the cost of a PSA blood test first, which is much cheaper and the usual screening tool.

Cystoscopy se peshab ki nali aur bladder ke andar ki cheezein dikhti hain, par prostate cancer ke liye doctor doosre test likhte hain. Bilkul darna mat, acche doctor babu se baat kariye, sab theek hoga.

My father went through some prostate checks recently. Actually, a cystoscopy is mainly to look inside the bladder, though they can see if the prostate is enlarged. For cancer, doctors usually rely on PSA tests, MRI, or a biopsy.

A cystoscopy isn't the primary diagnostic tool for prostate cancer, as it visualizes the urinary tract rather than the prostate tissue itself. However, it can rule out other causes of your urinary symptoms. Please follow your urologist's specific advice on this.

Hey man, don't stress too much about the cystoscopy. It's mostly to check if there is some blockage or infection in the bladder area. For prostate cancer, they usually do simple blood tests or scans, so let the doc handle it.
