Can a blood pressure machine detect heart attack?

Regularly, I monitor my blood pressure at home with a digital machine. My uncle recently had a heart attack, and it made me wonder about these machines. Does a regular blood pressure machine give any indication or detect if someone is having a heart attack?

I totally understand the fear and anxiety of checking the BP machine when you feel something is wrong with your heart. But honestly, a BP monitor cannot detect a heart attack. Knowing this actually helped me stop obsessing over the machine and seek real help when needed.

I totally get it, when we feel any chest pain, we immediately reach for the BP monitor hoping it will tell us we are safe. But a BP machine cannot show if you are having a heart attack. Please, if you feel any chest pain, tight feeling, or breathlessness, go to the hospital right away.

My cardiologist clearly told me that a home blood pressure machine only measures pressure and pulse, not the electrical activity or damage of a heart attack. A heart attack is diagnosed using an ECG and specific blood tests in a hospital, never by a BP monitor.

No, betaji, a BP machine cannot detect a heart attack. When my husband felt tightness in his chest, his BP reading was completely normal, but we rushed him to the hospital anyway and it turned out to be a mild attack. Please don't waste time looking at the machine if someone is unwell.

Absolutely not. A BP machine cannot detect a heart attack. If you have red-flag symptoms like sudden chest pressure, shooting pain in the left arm, or unexplained sweating, don't waste precious minutes checking your BP at home. Go straight to an emergency room.

No, a blood pressure monitor is not designed to detect a heart attack. Even if your blood pressure reading looks normal, you could still be having a cardiac event. If you have symptoms like sudden chest pain, radiating arm pain, or sweating, consulting a doctor or calling an ambulance is the only safe course of action.

Do not rely on a home BP machine to tell you if your heart is okay. A lot of internet posts claim it can detect heart issues, but that is totally false. Only an ECG and troponin blood tests at a hospital can confirm a heart attack, so verify with a doctor instead of trusting a machine.
