Can a bad tooth cause head pain?

For the past week, I've had a terrible headache along with a persistent toothache. My dentist appointment is next week. Can a 'bad tooth' actually cause such intense head pain?

Dental decay causes a lot of tension in the jaw muscles, which leads to tension headaches. You can try doing gentle neck stretches and deep breathing to calm the nerves, but please get the tooth treated by a dentist.

When my wisdom tooth was infected, I used to get terrible, blinding headaches on the same side of my face. Once the dentist pulled the tooth out, the headaches completely disappeared.

An infected tooth can definitely trigger severe headaches. For diabetics, dental infections can also raise blood sugar levels, so please don't ignore this. Get a dental checkup and monitor your sugars closely.

You can press a clove near the painful tooth to get temporary relief from the headache, but if there is pus or a high fever, it means the infection is spreading. Please see a dentist immediately for proper treatment.

Yes, tooth decay causes referred headaches. A simple solution is to do warm salt water rinses three times a day to temporarily reduce the swelling, and book an appointment with your local dentist as soon as possible.
