Can a bad mattress cause back pain?

I wake up almost every morning with back pain, and it often lasts throughout the day. My mattress is quite old and feels lumpy now. Could my old, 'bad mattress' be the main reason for my constant back pain?

Yes, a bad mattress definitely ruins your posture and causes back pain. Along with changing the mattress, make sure you eat calcium-rich foods like ragi and milk to keep your bones strong.

I ignored my back pain thinking it was just my old mattress, but it turned out to be a herniated disc that got worse. Change the mattress, but please get a doctor to check your spine if the pain persists.

Absolutely, yes. A saggy mattress is the biggest enemy of your spine, change it as soon as possible.

My husband had terrible lower back pain for months. We finally invested in a firm orthopedic mattress, and his pain almost vanished in a week. It is definitely worth changing.

A bad mattress is a major culprit because it offers zero support. Besides upgrading your bed, try incorporating light core-strengthening exercises and daily walks to keep your back muscles active, if your doctor permits.
