Can 13 year olds have a heart attack?

My son is 13 and he had some chest pain yesterday after playing cricket. It really scared me, as I've heard about young people having heart issues these days. I'm worried if kids this young can actually have heart attacks.

Honestly, it is extremely rare for a 13 year old to get a heart attack unless there is some serious birth defect. When my nephew had sharp chest pain, we tried warm water and ginger tea thinking it was gas, and it actually went away. But please don't take risks with chest pain—if it's heavy or hurting bad, consult a doctor immediately.

Yaar, at 13, a heart attack is like almost impossible unless there is some pre-existing heart issue from birth. Actually, kids this age get chest pain mostly due to heavy school bags, stress, or fast food acidity. Just ask them where it hurts exactly, but if they are sweating or breathless, then directly run to a doc, don't wait.

Haan na, even hearing this makes me so anxious! Normally at 13, heart attacks don't happen, mostly it is just muscle pain or acidity from eating junk. Still, we should not ignore if the child is feeling breathless or very uneasy. Better to show a good pediatrician once just to be completely safe.

Usually, the cardiovascular health of a teenager is very strong, so a heart attack is highly unlikely. I track my family's vitals on my smartwatch, and sometimes even high anxiety or a sudden spike in heart rate can feel scary to a kid. If they are feeling chest tightness, tracking their pulse and getting a quick ECG done at a clinic will give you peace of mind.

Look, medically speaking, a true myocardial infarction at 13 is incredibly rare and usually linked to congenital heart conditions. Most chest pain cases in teens that come to our clinic are just costochondritis or gastric issues. But if there is radiating pain in the arm or sudden dizziness, please take them to the ER right away without giving any home meds.

For normal chest tightness in kids, giving them lukewarm fennel water or keeping them sitting upright helps if it is just flatulence. However, we cannot treat everything at home. If the child is crying with severe pain, sweating, or struggling to breathe, forget home remedies and take them straight to a hospital.
