Are your eyes open during sleep paralysis?

I've had a few episodes of sleep paralysis, and it's always terrifying when it happens. During those times, it genuinely feels like my eyes are open and I can see my room, but I can't move. Is it common to have your eyes open during sleep paralysis?

Yes, your eyes can definitely be open, and that's exactly why it feels so terrifying because you can see your room but can't move a muscle. Sometimes they are only half-open, which distorts what you see and triggers those crazy hallucinations.

My teenage daughter started experiencing this recently and she was terrified because she could see her bedroom doorway clearly but couldn't move. We talked to her doctor who reassured us that the eyes can indeed be open, and keeping a regular sleep schedule really helps reduce these episodes.

I ignored my frequent sleep paralysis episodes for months, thinking it was just stress, until it started severely impacting my daily life. Yes, your eyes can be open, which makes the hallucinations worse. Please get a proper sleep study done if this happens regularly.

The first time it happened, I panicked so badly because I could see my room but was totally frozen. Now that I know it's just a temporary glitch between sleep stages where your eyes can be open, I just close them mentally and wait for it to pass.

I've had this happen a few times and yes, my eyes were wide open staring at the fan. It is so scary, but I found that focusing on just wiggling my toes slowly helps me break out of it much faster.

Yeah, your eyes can be open and it honestly feels like a horror movie scene. But don't stress too much about it, buddy; it's super common and usually just happens when you are sleep-deprived or highly stressed.

With my terrible sleep schedule, sleep paralysis is basically a weekly visitor. My eyes are usually wide open, staring at my laundry pile, which looks like a monster in the dark. Honestly, the mess is scarier than the paralysis at this point.

Oh man, experiencing sleep paralysis with your eyes open while staring at the empty plate of late-night biryani you just finished is a different kind of torture! Jokes aside, yes, you can see your surroundings, which makes it feel way too real.
