Are you supposed to sleep on your back?

My grandmother always says sleeping on your back is the best posture for overall health. I usually sleep on my side or stomach and sometimes wake up with a stiff neck. Is sleeping on your back the correct way for everyone, or does it depend?

I always sleep on my stomach or side, but lately, my back has been hurting. Is sleeping on the back actually the healthiest option, or does it depend on the body type? I am a bit confused.

Sleeping on your side is usually considered very comfortable and good for digestion, especially the left side. Don't stress too much about sleeping perfectly on your back if it feels unnatural. Take care.

If you are pregnant or have specific back issues, sleeping on your back can actually be restricted or painful. I had complications during my third trimester and was strictly told to sleep only on my left side to maintain blood flow, so please check with your doctor for your situation.

I used to sleep on my back, but it actually made my snoring much worse and my throat felt very dry in the morning. Switching to my side really helped me sleep more comfortably, so that's what works for me.

Honestly, at this point, I am just happy if I fall asleep at all, regardless of the position! Every time I try sleeping on my back, I feel like a stiff log and wake up staring at the ceiling at 3 AM. Side sleeping is my only savior.
