Are you allowed to sleep in your car?

We are planning a very long road trip across states next month. Sometimes it gets late and finding a hotel is tough, so I was wondering if it's generally allowed or safe to just sleep in your car at a rest stop or somewhere similar in India.

I completely understand if you are in a stressful situation where you have to do this, and it can be very scary. Just make sure the windows are slightly open for fresh air so you don't feel suffocated or anxious.

The police might knock on your window out of curiosity, but there is no law against sleeping in your own car! Just don't park in a no-parking zone, or you'll wake up being towed away!

Legally it is allowed, but for your health and neck, sleeping in a car is not good. If you must do it during a long journey, drink some warm ginger water afterward to ease any body stiffness from the cramped space.

Yes, you can, but it can lead to terrible back pain. If you have to do it, keep a small pillow or folded bedsheet behind your lower back for support, and drink hot water in the morning to relieve any gas caused by sleeping upright.

It is allowed, but if you have diabetes like me, sleeping in a cramped car can affect your blood circulation and cause numbness in your legs. Make sure to step out and stretch your legs frequently if you are resting in a vehicle.
