Are white kidney beans the same as navy beans?

Following a healthy recipe these days, I saw it mention navy beans, but then my friend suggested white kidney beans as an alternative. Are these beans basically the same, or do they have different nutritional values or cooking properties?

They are different. I used to ignore what I ate and faced terrible gut issues later. If you are changing your diet drastically with these beans and feel any severe abdominal cramps or constant indigestion, please visit a doctor immediately instead of waiting like I did.

I used to panic looking at Western recipes online trying to find exact navy beans. Actually, they are just smaller than white kidney beans. You can easily substitute them and it turns out completely fine, so don't stress at all.

Nah bro, they aren't the same. Navy beans are tiny and oval, white kidney beans are much larger. I tried making a dip with white kidney beans once and it was way too dense. Navy beans work better for smooth spreads.

I completely understand why you are asking, it gets so confusing when you want to make sure your diet is absolutely perfect. But don't worry, they are just different sizes of the same bean family. Both are highly nutritious and safe to eat.

Navy beans are much smaller and get very mushy, whereas white kidney beans keep their shape. If navy beans are expensive or hard to find in your local market, just buy regular lobia or white rajma. It's much cheaper and does the exact same job.

I read so much about bean lectins online and got super anxious about which one is safer. They are different species, but honestly, as long as you boil them thoroughly, both are safe. Just make sure to soak them for hours to avoid any stomach trouble.
