Are walnuts kidney friendly?

My aunt recently had some kidney issues, and it made me think about my own kidney health. I eat a lot of nuts, including walnuts, and want to make sure they are not putting any strain on my kidneys. Are walnuts considered kidney friendly?

Actually, my uncle had kidney issues and we had to be very careful with nuts. Walnuts do have some phosphorus and oxalates, so it's better not to eat them in large quantities.

Compared to other nuts like almonds, walnuts are slightly lower in potassium and phosphorus, but they still contain them. If you have any kidney stage issues, keep the portion very limited.

Yes, they can be eaten in moderation, but always get your kidney function tests checked regularly.

Don't worry too much, eating one or two walnuts a day won't harm healthy kidneys. Just avoid processed foods and eat fresh home meals.

I track my daily sodium and phosphorus on my fitness app. Walnuts are better than most nuts for kidney diets, but still, keep an eye on the portion size to be safe.

For kidney health, drinking enough water is the primary remedy. Walnuts are good for strength, but elderly people should limit them as they can be heavy to digest.
