Are vomiting and diarrhea signs of dehydration?

My young son has been having vomiting and diarrhea since morning. He seems a bit low on energy now. I'm worried if these symptoms automatically mean he's getting dehydrated and if I should be doing anything specific.

They actually cause dehydration because you lose fluids fast. Keep sipping ORS or coconut water.

Yes, absolutely. If you feel very dizzy or have dark urine alongside this, please see a doctor immediately.

I literally got discharged from the clinic day before yesterday because of food poisoning. I was throwing up and running to the washroom constantly, and within hours my mouth went completely dry. Please start drinking electrobion or ORS immediately.

Yes, they cause rapid fluid loss. If you are working through this, stop and take a leave. If you can't keep any liquids down for more than 4-5 hours, don't wait, visit the nearest emergency room for IV fluids.

They definitely lead to dehydration, which can mess up your body's electrolyte balance. I experienced this last year and it took me days to recover my strength, so please be very careful and rest well.
