Are type 1 diabetics exempt from the draft?

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was young, and now I'm thinking about career options. I'm wondering about the military, but I've heard rules about health conditions. Are type 1 diabetics exempt from the draft or any military service in India?

I am new to reading about this. India doesn't have an active military draft, but I was wondering if other countries like the US or Korea automatically disqualify type 1 diabetics from mandatory military service due to insulin needs?

Yes, absolutely! Since Type 1 diabetes requires constant monitoring and immediate access to insulin, they are exempted from military drafts globally. You cannot have medical emergencies in combat zones, so stay safe at home!

Yes, in countries with active drafts, Type 1 diabetes is a disqualifying medical condition due to the strict, constant need for insulin and glucose monitoring. Even if you aren't in the military, regular gentle exercise like walking is great for managing insulin sensitivity.

My young son is a type 1 diabetic, and his physical health and safe access to daily medical care are always my biggest concerns. He would absolutely be exempted from any such high-stress military draft because managing low blood sugars on the field is simply impossible.

It makes me so anxious just thinking about how hard it would be to manage Type 1 diabetes in a military environment without proper food or cooling for insulin. Thankfully, international laws and military boards definitely exempt diabetics to prevent severe, life-threatening emergencies.
