Are tortillas good for diabetics?

A relative who lives abroad mentioned using tortillas as a healthier option in their diet. My father has diabetes, and I'm always looking for suitable foods for him. Are tortillas generally good for diabetics to include in their meals?

Only if they are made of 100% whole wheat or corn. White flour tortillas will quickly spike your blood sugar.

Beta, don't worry too much about fancy foreign terms. Our traditional multigrain rotis are much better for sugar control than any store-bought tortillas. Just eat simple, fresh home food and keep your mind calm.

My son has juvenile diabetes, and we realized that commercial flour tortillas cause a massive spike in his glucose levels. I now make homemade jowar and oat wraps for him instead, which are much safer and more nutritious.

I used to eat whatever wraps and healthy-looking breads I wanted, ignoring my minor symptoms until my health crashed. Please don't take risks. Go to a diagnostic lab, get your blood sugar tested, and consult a doctor.

While some low-carb tortillas are marketed for diabetics, it is highly recommended to check your post-meal glucose levels to see how your body handles them. Always consult your doctor before modifying your prescribed diabetic diet.

Haan na, readymade tortillas have so much maida and preservatives which are not good for health. Better to make fresh multigrain rotis at home, they are much safer for controlling sugar levels.

I manage both high blood pressure and diabetes with a strict diet. Packaged tortillas often contain high levels of sodium which is bad for BP, alongside the carbs. Please get your BP and HbA1c checked regularly and choose low-sodium options.

Keep your mind positive and stress-free, as stress also increases blood sugar. Eat simple, natural grains like whole wheat or bajra instead of processed tortillas, and take gentle care of your health daily.
