Are tortilla chips bad for diabetics?

My father has diabetes, and we are always looking for snacks that are safe for him. Sometimes he likes to have tortilla chips with salsa. I was wondering if these are generally considered bad for diabetics because of the carbs or other ingredients?

I worry about this so much because even small snacks can spike sugars. Tortilla chips are made of corn or flour, which are high in simple carbs and can definitely increase blood glucose levels quickly. It is probably safer to avoid them or talk to a doctor about safer alternatives.

Honestly, packaged tortilla chips are mostly fried and packed with sodium and simple carbs, which is bad for diabetes control. If you are busy, just grab roasted chana or mixed nuts instead. It is much faster, healthier, and won't mess up your HbA1c levels.

I used to panic and think my dad couldn't eat even a single chip. But our doctor reassured us that a small portion of baked tortilla chips along with a fiber-rich guacamole dip is perfectly fine once in a while. Just don't eat the whole packet in one sitting!

Eating these fancy packaged snacks and then paying thousands for HbA1c tests and diabetes medicines is not smart. Better to stick to simple, cheap homemade snacks like roasted makhana. It saves money on both grocery bills and doctor visits.

They are mostly processed corn flour, which has a high glycemic index and can spike blood sugar levels. If you really crave them, look for baked, whole-grain, or flaxseed-infused varieties, and limit your portion size. Always read the nutrition label carefully.
