Are tomatoes bad for kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones in the past and am very careful about what I eat now. Someone mentioned that tomatoes might be a risk factor for forming new stones. Can anyone tell me if tomatoes are bad for kidney stones?

Bro, yes, they have oxalates which can cause calcium oxalate stones if you eat too many of them. I had a small stone last summer and my doctor told me to remove the seeds if I'm eating tomatoes in my meals. Better to be safe.

At this age, my body produces stones like a quarry, haha! My doctor said tomatoes are fine in moderation, just don't go drinking glassfuls of tomato juice. Drinking lots of plain water is the real secret to keeping stones away.

I was actually researching this online and found out that while tomatoes contain oxalates, the amount is actually quite low compared to spinach or nuts. So they aren't completely bad, but removing the seeds is a common tip most people recommend.

Look, you don't need to cut out tomatoes completely. Just scoop out the seeds and the wet pulp where most of the oxalates are, and you can safely use the outer flesh for cooking. It is a very simple and practical hack.

It really depends on what type of kidney stone you have, as not all stones are made of calcium oxalate. Please get an ultrasound and a proper urine analysis done first. Let your doctor tell you exactly what foods you need to avoid.
