Are tomatoes bad for arthritis?

I've recently developed some mild arthritis in my knees, and my grandmother used to say that tomatoes aggravate joint pain. I eat a lot of tomatoes in my daily meals, so I'm wondering if this is true. Are tomatoes really bad for arthritis?

Don't believe everything you read on WhatsApp. There is no solid scientific proof that tomatoes cause arthritis flare-ups. Always verify with an orthopedist or a qualified clinical nutritionist before cutting out healthy veggies from your diet.

Actually, tomatoes contain solanine, which some people think triggers joint pain, but they also have lycopene which is anti-inflammatory. Try keeping a food diary for two weeks to see if they personally affect you. If not, they are perfectly fine to eat.

Tomatoes are a cheap source of vitamins, so don't stop eating them blindly and waste money on expensive dietary supplements. If you suspect uric acid or arthritis, get a simple blood test done at a local lab for 300-400 rupees first to know the real issue.

If tomatoes were really that bad, half of India would be limping because we put tomato gravy in literally everything, haha! Relax, unless you notice a personal flare-up after eating them, your butter chicken is totally safe.

Tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, which is actually good for joint cartilage. Instead of worrying about them, focus on low-impact exercise like swimming or a 30-minute walk if your doctor allows. Keeping the joints moving is the best way to fight stiffness.

Medically speaking, there is no direct link. I track my macro intake on MyFitnessPal, and tomatoes are great for keeping meals low-calorie while providing essential antioxidants. Unless you have a specific nightshade sensitivity, they are actually good for you.

I am new to dealing with joint pain, and I'm a bit confused. Does this mean I should avoid tomato soup and ketchup completely, or is a small amount in daily sabzi okay? Any advice would really help me.

I tried cutting out tomatoes, potatoes, everything for my joint pain, but it didn't make much difference. What actually helped me was reducing deep-fried food and taking warm haldi-milk at night. Don't stress too much over tomatoes, dear.
