Are there signs of gestational diabetes?

I am currently in my second trimester, and my doctor told me about the risk of gestational diabetes. I'm a bit worried and want to know what to look out for. Are there specific symptoms or signs that indicate someone might have gestational diabetes during pregnancy?

Often there are no clear outward signs, which is why routine checkups during pregnancy are so important. Stay positive, eat nourishing food, and trust your doctors to guide you through your regular sugar screenings.

Sometimes increased thirst, fatigue, or frequent urination can be mild indicators, though these are also normal in pregnancy. Keeping your mind calm with gentle pranayama and getting your regular oral glucose tests done is the best approach.

Most women with gestational diabetes actually show no noticeable symptoms at all. My doctor explained that is why the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) is mandatory around the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy to catch it early.

Yes, while some might feel extra tired or thirsty, gestational diabetes is often silent. Since managing hormones is so delicate during pregnancy, getting regular blood tests done as advised by your gynecologist is the safest route.

My sister had this during her pregnancy, and she had absolutely no symptoms other than being slightly more thirsty than usual. We only found out during her routine doctor's blood test. Definitely make sure to keep up with all your hospital appointments!
