Are sugar free products good for diabetics?

My father was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and we are trying to manage his diet. The store has so many 'sugar-free' biscuits and sweets now, but I'm unsure if they are actually good options for him.

They can be helpful sometimes to satisfy a sweet craving, but please don't assume they are healthy. Many 'sugar-free' biscuits and sweets are still loaded with maida and fats, which can spike your blood sugar. Always read the back of the packet carefully.

It is okay to have them once in a while, but natural foods are always safer. Just make sure to check your sugar levels regularly to see how your body reacts.

Honestly, 'sugar-free' is often just a marketing gimmick. They replace sugar with other carbohydrates or chemicals that still impact your glycemic index. It is much better to consult your doctor or dietician for a proper meal plan rather than relying on these packaged foods.

I totally get it, managing cravings when you have diabetes is so incredibly hard. But please be careful with these products as some sugar substitutes can cause stomach upset. It is better to have a small portion of natural fruit instead when you feel like having something sweet.

For my own diabetes, I tried using sugar-free sweeteners and sweets for a few months. However, I noticed my fasting sugar was still fluctuating, so I completely cut them out. Now I just stick to home-cooked food and simple lifestyle changes.

Hamare yahan toh doctor babu ne mana kiya hai yeh sab dabba wala khana khane se. Sugar-free bolte hain par sharir ke liye acha nahi hota. Isse acha thoda sa dahi ya seb kha lo, wahi sabse badiya hai.

Along with sugar, we must keep an eye on our blood pressure and daily walk routine. I have seen that these packaged sugar-free items often have high sodium as well. Better to stick to simple home food and get regular checkups done.

I used to panic and buy every sugar-free snack in the supermarket for my father. But later we realized his readings didn't improve much with them. Once we switched him back to regular meals with portion control, his levels became normal and stable.
