Are saltine crackers good for diabetics?

My husband is diabetic and is always looking for light snacks. Someone mentioned saltine crackers, but I want to confirm if they are okay for him to eat without affecting his sugar levels.

Actually, my sugar spiked crazy high last month when I was eating crackers during a stomach bug. They are made of refined flour, which digests very fast. Better to avoid them if you want stable sugar readings.

Agreed, they have too much refined flour and salt. Try roasted makhana instead as it is much safer for diabetes.

I logged saltine crackers on my tracker app once and the carb count is quite high for such a small serving. If you use a continuous glucose monitor, you will see a quick spike. Look for whole grain options instead.

Don't blindly buy things because online articles say they are light snacks. Saltines are basically maida and sodium. Show your diet chart to your endocrinologist and let them tell you what is safe.

I have lived with diabetes for twenty-five years now, and I can tell you that processed flour snacks are never our friend. A simple homemade dry ragi roti or oats porridge is much better for health in the long run.

Honestly, I barely have the energy to read nutrition labels at 2 AM, but even I know maida is a diabetic's worst enemy. Unless you are throwing up and need something bland, better stay away from these crackers.
